We all want awesome travel.
No one watches travel shows and things “man, I’d never want to go there.” No, we want adventure. We want sand between our toes, the ocean around our ankles, and a cold drink somewhere close by. That’s what today’s article is dedicated too—good times in the best destinations. You may not be able to buy happiness, but you sure can travel to a destination with a higher percentage of epic things to do.
#1 Paris, France
We kick this list off with a perennial favorite. If you want a truly big city, European vacation, then it’s hard to top the eternal city. The miles of walking parks, river frontage, and trendsetting museums never disappoint. Many cities in the world are over-hyped, Paris is not. It remains a truly wonderful destination.
#2 London, England
Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, The London Eye, The Tower of London, the list goes on and on. If you haven’t visited this magical city already, then this is your year. Or if you’ve been before, no reason not to try some fish and chips in the country of their origin.
#3 Rome, Italy
Rome has held sway over our imaginations for years. Few cities offer such a perfect blend of Old and New World juxtaposed side-by-side. Drop by a famous leather shop and pick up a few items on your stroll over to the Colosseum.
#4 Bali, Indonesia
If smooth sand and pristine water is your idea of vacation, then Bali is calling you home. A popular destination for Australian tourists, this gem still remains somewhat off the radar of most American tourists. Late spring is a great time to visit before the summer crowd starts pouring in.
#5 Crete, Greece
Do you think of Crete as just another coastal location in Greece? Think again. The Minoan civilization was in full swing on the island over 3,000 years ago. Enjoy the food and scenery that has made the island so popular, but don’t miss the opportunity to drop by a museum or two and see how the Minoan’s used to live.
#6 Barcelona, Spain
Warm weather, vibrant colors, and delicious Spanish food. Barcelona is more than a city, it is the very soul of Spain. You’ll find you may not want to return home after spending a few days here.
#7 Prague, Czech Republic
If your fall plans remain a little empty, I’d suggest giving Prague a try. World-renowned for its beautiful architecture and splendid variety of beers, most people never think about the food until they’ve been there, and then they just cannot get enough. Traditional dishes such as potato soup or pork roast with dumplings and sauerkraut will leave you wondering why more cooking shows don’t visit this cuisine-inspired city.
#8 Marrakech, Morocco
Rabat, Morocco may be the capital city, but the title of most cultured city in Morocco is won hands down by Marrakech. Exquisite architecture and a diverse population land this city squarely on our list of top places to visit in 2018. Just remember that sunscreen and headgear are needed all year round. It gets hot!
#9 Istanbul, Turkey
You may not know this, I certainly didn’t before researching this article, but Istanbul is the only city in the world that sits atop two continents: Europe and Asia. It’s been around since 1453 when the Ottoman Turks captured Constantinople. Stunning architecture, warm weather, famous paths, palaces, and bazaars will more than satiate the travel-hungry adventurer.
#10 New York City, United States
Often considered the fashion capital of the world, this mega-metropolis still calls the world to its shores. Take a tour of the once-tallest building in the world (Empire State Building) or enjoy a ferry ride to Ellis Island. Once that’s all done you can wrap up your day with a New York style hotdog and enjoy a game at Yankee Stadium.
